A Few Words About Me
I started out writing radio advertisements for WAXX radio while earning a journalism and advertising degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. It was then that I realized I loved not only copywriting, but all other aspects of promotion. So, I pursued further education and experience in graphic design. I worked in an ad agency right out of college, where I took part in all things creative.
I moved to the Twin Cities in search of ad agency nirvana, which was within reach until a death in the family brought me back home. I moved into health care marketing and public relations when I returned to Janesville before taking a leap of faith and freelancing full time.
I founded FIDO LLC in 1997. Back then, FIDO stood for Freelance writing • Illustration • Design • Odd jobs. It is a tribute to my Grandpa Merle, who—no matter their names—called each of the seven dogs we had on our family farm “Fido.” Over the years, my firm has evolved as my industry has changed, but my company name has stayed the same.
I believe in staying small to eliminate any miscommunication and overhead costs that can be associated with larger marketing and advertising firms. I handle every aspect of every project in order to run efficiently, keeping the client’s best interests in mind.
